Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum three years related experience or training
- Weight not to exceed 225 pounds including flight gear
- Must maintain EMT-P license and certifications
- Ability to work flexible 24-hour shifts including on-call
- Strong critical thinking and multi-tasking skills
- Dependable and self-motivated
- Must comply with Air Methods employment policies
- Ability to travel up to 5 percent
- Meet advanced practice skills defined by Medical Director(s)
- Maintain positive interpersonal relationships
- Willingness to participate in ongoing education and training
- Ability to work in fast-paced and changing environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum three years recent experience in a busy 911 or flight paramedic setting
- Bachelor's degree in health-related field preferred
- Critical care transport and flight experience a plus
- Registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served
- National certification as required for state licensure
- Specialty certification (FP-C or CCP-C) required within two years
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent certifications
- Advanced provider ITLS or PHTLS if required
- Completion of one advanced trauma course prior to third-rider orientation
- NRP certification prior to completion of third-rider orientation
- NIMS training including IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat upon hire
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Job Duties
- Provide high quality pre-hospital advanced life support from initial contact until patient care is handed over
- Maintain thorough patient care documentation
- Practice within scope of practice as defined by state regulations and Air Methods standards
- Participate in ongoing competency training and educational programs
- Communicate educational needs to Medical Base Supervisor and Medical Education Coordinator
- Perform routine maintenance and ensure adequate supplies of medical equipment
- Assist pilot with radio, navigational, and visual observations as requested
- Conduct aircraft safety briefings and comply with all safety standards
- Serve as medical flight resource for neonatal and pediatric patients
- Perform advanced skills and procedures approved by Medical Director
- Participate in departmental activities, projects, and committees
- Maintain awareness of current pre-hospital care issues
- Report medical equipment failures and coordinate repairs
- Keep aircraft clean and orderly for rapid response
- Attend pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings
- Serve as a role model, educator, and clinical resource
