Job Requirements

  • Nursing license in good standing
  • must obtain Alaska and Washington licenses prior to start
  • graduate from accredited nursing school
  • five years of critical care or emergency department experience with pediatric/adult combination preferred
  • excellent physical health with full use of extremities and no lifting limitations
  • no vision or hearing deficits
  • excellent mental health and ability to handle emotional/physical stress
  • adherence to weight guidelines and dress code
  • compliance with all Airlift Northwest policies and procedures
  • refrain from drug/alcohol use 12 hours prior to shift
  • advanced clinical assessment and stabilization skills
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • two-year commitment to the flight program
  • current passport required and must be carried on all transports
  • current ACLS, PALS, NRP, BLS certifications
  • advanced nursing certification prior to hire
  • must obtain CFRN within 2 years.

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • current nursing license in good standing
  • five years of experience in critical care, emergency department, or specialty care areas with pediatric/adult experience preferred
  • current ACLS, PALS, NRP, and BLS certifications prior to hire
  • advanced nursing certification such as CCRN, CEN, or CFRN prior to hire
  • ability to obtain CFRN certification within two years of employment
  • excellent clinical assessment and stabilization skills
  • proficiency in communication and interpersonal relationships
  • commitment to maintain licensure and certifications
  • experience in critical care nursing
  • knowledge of federal aviation regulations pertaining to medical transport
  • ability to participate in public education and training programs.

Job Duties

  • Comply with all published safety policies and procedures
  • initiate reporting and resolution of unsafe practices
  • participate in shift briefings, cabin checklists, debriefings, and procedures
  • acquire and maintain knowledge of Airlift Northwest policies, procedures, and protocols
  • stabilize and manage critically ill and injured patients during air transport
  • prepare and check transport equipment and aircraft
  • assist with patient stabilization and preparation at referring sites
  • consult with medical control and maintain patient care in-flight
  • monitor patient status and intervene as necessary
  • maintain electronic and written patient records
  • restock and clean equipment and aircraft post-flight
  • report any issues with equipment or patient care to the Airlift Administrator or Medical Director
  • participate in post-flight debriefs and quality improvement projects
  • maintain required licensure, certifications, and training
  • participate in teaching and public education programs
  • uphold compliance with HIPAA and other regulations
  • provide extra shift coverage as needed and may work at other bases within the organization
  • other duties as assigned.
