Job Requirements

  • Minimum age of 20 years
  • Pass DOT pre-employment drug test
  • Pass TSA fingerprint-based criminal history and background check
  • Valid U.S. or foreign passport with applicable visas
  • Legal right to work in the United States
  • Ability to travel unrestricted to and from all states and countries served by American Airlines
  • Willingness to relocate based on operational needs
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours if necessary
  • Availability for on-call reserve duty
  • Meet physical requirements needed for safe operation of the aircraft including ability to sit in a jump seat, fasten harness, move through cabin aisles, operate emergency exits
  • No visible tattoos and no more than one earring per ear
  • Ability to attend 6.5 weeks of unpaid training in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas
  • Ability to push/pull beverage and food carts with up to 60 pounds force and assist disabled passengers
  • Flexibility to alternative work schedules and extended shifts
  • Ability to spend consecutive nights away from home
  • Standing for extended periods and lifting luggage

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Proficiency in English for announcements and safety instructions
  • Service-oriented and self-motivated attitude
  • Skills in handling difficult situations, problem-solving, complaint resolution, and conflict de-escalation
  • Ability to work collaboratively at all organizational levels
  • Ability to represent the American Airlines brand professionally adhering to uniform and grooming standards

Job Duties

  • Deliver consistent in-flight service including serving food and beverages and selling onboard products
  • Handle diverse situations while interacting with passengers both on and off the aircraft
  • Work independently as part of a collaborative team
  • Prioritize passenger safety and comfort
  • Lead responses to various emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Travel to different climates and locations worldwide
  • Maintain a high standard of dependability to ensure on-time flights
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and attendance/performance standards
  • Work flexible schedules including evenings and weekends
  • Demonstrate adaptability to the flight attendant lifestyle
