Job Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older at time of application
  • At least one year of customer service experience
  • Clear and organized communication skills, able to speak loudly in emergencies
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
  • Must be able to read and speak German fluently
  • Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound
  • Ability to effectively communicate during high-stress situations
  • Adherence to professional grooming, tattoo, and uniform guidelines
  • Proficiency in operating electronic devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops
  • Possess a valid passport with 18 months validity remaining
  • Ability to travel to all countries served by United without restrictions
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull beverage carts weighing up to 250 lbs
  • Ability to pass a functional reach assessment without shoes
  • Ability to sit in a jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened
  • Required to serve and/or sell food and beverages including alcohol
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule supporting 24/7 operations
  • Successful completion of an evacuation drill during training
  • Ability to pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests
  • Ability to pass randomized DOT/FAA drug screens
  • No disqualifying criminal background prohibiting travel
  • Meet hearing and vision requirements set by FAA and United Airlines

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Two or more years of college preferred
  • One year of customer service experience in retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, or social service
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
  • Professional appearance and grooming standards
  • Proficient in operating electronic devices
  • Valid passport with at least 18 months of validity
  • Ability to meet FAA hearing and vision requirements
