Job Description
GardaWorld Security Services is a globally recognized leader in customizable and sophisticated security solutions, proudly employing skilled and dedicated professionals across multiple continents. Established as a trusted name in the security industry, GardaWorld offers a comprehensive suite of services designed to meet diverse client needs ranging from retail centers to corporate environments. They hold the distinction of being the only guarding security company in the United States Certified by Great Place to Work, a testament to their commitment to employee satisfaction, professional development, and inclusive company culture. This accolade comes alongside the remarkable statistic that 26% of their corporate employees began their careers as frontline workers, highlighting their dedication to internal growth opportunities and career advancement.
The role of a Flex Security Ambassador for Shopping Centers under GardaWorld Security Services offers a unique and dynamic opportunity for individuals looking to thrive in a flexible, fast-paced security environment. Located in Gilroy, CA, this casual position requires professionals who are adaptable and ready to suit up to provide comprehensive security services in various scenarios and schedules. Unlike fixed roles, the Flex Security Ambassador position demands availability across different shifts - including day, swing, and overnight - and requires flexibility in schedule without the guarantee of fixed or set hours. This flexibility aligns with GardaWorld's business model of responding agilely to client needs and special events.
The Flex Security Ambassador's responsibilities are broad and vital to the safety and smooth operation of the shopping center. Key duties include monitoring the premises to ensure consistent security, conducting patrols to detect and prevent suspicious activities, controlling entry points with identity verification, and responding promptly to any incidents or potential threats. This role is just as much about customer service as it is about security, requiring excellent interpersonal skills to engage with shoppers and staff while maintaining a secure environment. The ambassador is also responsible for detailed documentation through written reports and collaborating efficiently with local law enforcement and authorities when critical situations arise.
Candidates for the position must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid state security license, and ideally have completed a 32-hour BSIS security training, though additional training can be offered during the hiring process. Prior security experience is preferred, with a minimum expectation of three months, and the role values backgrounds in law enforcement or the military as a significant advantage. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. and be able to provide proof of a high school diploma or GED. A clean driving record and an active driver’s license are essential, considering the mobility required in the position. A strong ability to think quickly, adapt to changing conditions, demonstrate problem-solving skills, and successfully undergo a comprehensive screening process including background checks and drug screening are mandatory for consideration.
The hourly wage for this role is competitive at $20.60 per hour, complemented by daily paycheck access through DailyPay, a benefit available exclusively to GardaWorld employees. Beyond the wage, GardaWorld offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer matching contributions, life insurance, disability coverage, and career growth opportunities. Employees receive uniforms at no extra cost, reinforcing the professional image and readiness of the security team.
This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic settings, enjoy diverse responsibilities, and seek to make a tangible impact on community safety. GardaWorld's culture supports ambitious candidates with entrepreneurial spirits, welcoming those who want to advance their careers while contributing positively to secure environments. Employment with GardaWorld is contingent upon passing the mandatory background check and drug screening post-offer. The company also maintains an equitable hiring policy that upholds strict adherence to federal and local nondiscrimination laws, ensuring a fair and inclusive workplace for all employees.
