Job Requirements
- College degree or equivalent experience and 2 years management experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in transportation or motor carrier safety programs
- Strong knowledge of transportation safety regulations
- Proficiency in MS365 and data reporting tools
- Ability to travel as required
- Excellent communication and leadership capabilities
- Ability to conduct safety training and investigations
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Management, Safety Management or related field
- Relevant work experience may substitute for degree
- Certification in Transportation Safety preferred e.g. Certified Director of Safety, Certified Safety Professional
- Proven experience in fleet safety management, preferably in transportation or logistics
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA standards and safety guidelines
- Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting
- Ability to travel within region
- Knowledge of federal and state employment practices
- Ability to interpret business and technical documents
- Proven decision making in routine and emergency situations
- Problem-solving skills with limited standardization
- Ability to follow written, oral and diagram instructions
- High degree of initiative and independent execution
- CSP and CDS certifications recommended
Job Duties
- Develop, implement and monitor safety policies and procedures in alignment with regulations
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance
- Keep updated on changes in transportation safety laws and implement necessary updates
- Design and deliver safety training programs for drivers, mechanics, and staff
- Provide guidance on safe driving, accident prevention, and emergency response protocols
- Analyze accident and incident reports to identify trends and root causes
- Develop and execute strategies to mitigate risks and prevent future incidents
- Implement corrective actions and safety improvement plans
- Liaise with regional managers, fleet supervisors and stakeholders to promote safety culture
- Collaborate with maintenance to ensure vehicle safety and service standards
- Communicate safety updates, best practices, and initiatives across the region
- Track and analyze safety performance metrics
- Prepare safety performance reports and presentations for senior management
- Coordinate emergency responses and accident investigations
- Lead or assist investigations to determine accident causes and implement corrective actions
- Continuously review and enhance safety programs based on industry best practices and feedback
