Job Requirements

- ability to coordinate effectively across multiple teams and departments
- experience with transportation modes including LTL, FTL, dedicated, and customer pickups
- proficiency in tracking shipment status and reporting
- knowledge of preventive maintenance scheduling and compliance requirements
Job Duties
- Review weekly order and load volume tendered by Customer Service
- send files and order acknowledgments to the warehouse to ensure third-party provider receives shipping addresses, SKU specifications, case counts, and volume
- schedule the best modes of transportation for cost savings based on lead time, order volume and location
- assign carriers and brokers to each load based on service level including LTL, dedicated, FTL, customer pickups
- send carrier acknowledgments to selected providers
- work with Production and Planning as well as Customer Service to ensure all products are available before load or ship date
- follow up daily on order shipments and tracking details including notifications for FedEx, UPS, and 3PL deliveries to ensure orders are shipped and arrive per delivery commitments
- recover signed bills of lading and proof of delivery from carriers
- email bills of ladings and packing lists to specified distributors
- capture weekly outbound reporting to send to contracted carriers and warehouse
- compile weekly reporting highlighting cost savings for management
- support accounting with claims and disputes for loss or damaged product
- communicate effectively between warehouse, transportation, sales, and Customer Service
- schedule routing daily in respect to production planning and volume
- manage and minimize shipping time and routing
- ensure drivers clock in and out and take mandatory breaks
- coordinate with third-party warehouse for preloaded trailer pickups
- ensure drivers fuel tractor heads and trailers appropriately
- adhere to DOT compliance rules and maintain hours of service compliance
- hold drivers responsible for submitting pre-trip reports and driver trip reports
- file and retrieve signed bills of lading and proof of delivery
- maximize use of leased tractor/trailers to reduce outside spending
- track drivers to ensure productivity, fuel efficiency, and schedule adherence
- make sure trucks maintain temperature when used for staging or transportation
- keep drivers responsible for securing loads with bars and straps
- monitor temperature tail notifications and alerts
- organize daily tasks and plan adjustments
- conduct weekly meetings with CDL staff for updates on DOT regulations and team assessments
- manage bi-weekly truck cleaning including sanitation and quality assurance
- follow up on roadside assistance emergencies
- coordinate preventive maintenance scheduling with Penske and CDL staff
- ensure proper transfer of raw materials and finished goods between plants and warehouses
- handle accident reporting and follow-up with human resources
- ensure all rented or leased units are returned or added to insurance as needed
