The role of a Fitness Club Receptionist at Planet Fitness is vital to maintaining the high standards and welcoming atmosphere of each club. This position serves as the first point of contact for members, guests, and prospective members, ensuring every interaction reflects the company’s dedication to a judgement-free fitness experience. Responsibilities include welcoming and assisting visitors as they enter and exit the facility, answering inquiries, and promoting the Judgement Free Zone philosophy by engaging with members positively and supportively. The receptionist also manages key membership functions, including new member sign-ups, billing updates, cancellations, collections, and transfers, ensuring smooth administrative operations.

In addition to excellent customer service, the Fitness Club Receptionist contributes to the safety, cleanliness, and overall maintenance of the club. Tasks include cleaning gym equipment, spa amenities, and communal areas on schedule, ensuring restrooms are hygienic and well-stocked, and conducting walkthroughs to address any safety or policy concerns promptly. The position also involves handling retail sales and contributing to membership growth through outreach initiatives and tours for prospective members. This role requires a friendly, empathetic attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to motivate and support members while upholding club policies. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 6-12 months of customer service experience preferred
  • willingness to complete CPR/AED certification (training provided by Planet Fitness)
  • basic computer skills and proficiency

Job Duties

  • Welcome members and guests as they enter and exit, assisting with any questions during check-in
  • promote the Judgement Free Zone by engaging with members on the floor, offering assistance, and supporting their fitness goals while upholding club policies
  • address member issues promptly and escalate to management when necessary
  • answer phone calls courteously and assist callers with questions
  • manage membership functions such as new sign-ups, billing updates, cancellations, collections, and transfers
  • conduct outreach calls and provide tours to prospective members, helping them find the right membership option
  • process retail sales accurately and contribute toward sales goals
  • clean and sanitize gym equipment, Black Card spa amenities, and shared areas according to established schedules
  • ensure restrooms are clean, stocked, sanitized, and free of clutter
  • perform walkthroughs of the facility to promptly address safety, cleanliness, and policy concerns
  • report facility or maintenance issues such as broken equipment, leaks, or dispenser problems
