The Fitness Club Receptionist at Planet Fitness plays a pivotal role in shaping the member experience, acting as the first point of contact for members, guests, and prospective members. This position is integral in maintaining the Judgement Free Zone® philosophy by greeting visitors warmly, providing assistance, and promoting a positive atmosphere. The receptionist supports various administrative and operational functions, including managing memberships, answering inquiries, and facilitating tours for potential new members. Beyond administrative tasks, the role involves helping uphold safety and cleanliness standards in the club, ensuring all areas including gym equipment, Black Card spa amenities, and restrooms are maintained to the highest hygiene standards. The role requires keen attention to detail and proactive identification and reporting of facility maintenance issues. This comprehensive involvement ensures a seamless and supportive environment where members feel motivated and valued.

The ideal candidate for the Fitness Club Receptionist position possesses strong customer service experience, ideally between six to twelve months, complemented by basic computer skills and a friendly, positive attitude towards service excellence. The company provides CPR/AED certification training to support team members in maintaining a safe environment. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Willingness to complete CPR/AED certification (training provided by Planet Fitness)

Job Duties

  • Welcome members and guests as they enter and exit, assisting with any questions during check-in
  • Promote the Judgement Free Zone® by engaging with members on the floor, offering assistance, and supporting their fitness goals while upholding club policies
  • Address member issues promptly and escalate to management when necessary
  • Answer phone calls courteously and assist callers with questions
  • Manage membership functions such as new sign-ups, billing updates, cancellations, collections, and transfers
  • Conduct outreach calls and provide tours to prospective members, helping them find the right membership option
  • Process retail sales accurately and contribute toward sales goals
  • Clean and sanitize gym equipment, Black Card spa amenities, and shared areas according to established schedules
  • Ensure restrooms are clean, stocked, sanitized, and free of clutter
  • Perform walkthroughs of the facility to promptly address safety, cleanliness, and policy concerns
  • Report facility or maintenance issues such as broken equipment, leaks, or dispenser problems
