The Fitness Club Receptionist role at Planet Fitness is pivotal in first impressions and ongoing member satisfaction. Receptionists act as the frontline ambassadors, greeting members, guests, and prospective clients with warmth and professionalism. As a Fitness Club Receptionist, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment from the moment members enter the facility until they leave. You will assist with check-ins, membership functions such as sign-ups and billing updates, and provide tours to prospective members helping them choose the right membership options. You will also engage members on the floor, encouraging their fitness goals while upholding club policies.

Other essential duties include sanitation of gym equipment and amenities, ensuring restrooms are clean and stocked, conducting facility walkthroughs to address safety and maintenance concerns, and escalating issues to management as necessary. This role requires a balance of interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a top-tier fitness environment.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Willingness to complete CPR/AED Certification (training provided by Planet Fitness)
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency

Job Qualifications

  • 6-12 months of customer service experience preferred
  • Friendly and positive attitude with a passion for excellent service
  • Strong communication, listening, and empathy skills
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, and act with integrity while respecting others
  • Quick learner with the ability to apply training effectively

Job Duties

  • Welcome members and guests as they enter and exit, assisting with any questions during check-in
  • Promote the Judgement Free Zone by engaging with members on the floor, offering assistance, and supporting their fitness goals while upholding club policies
  • Address member issues promptly and escalate to management when necessary
  • Answer phone calls courteously and assist callers with questions
  • Manage membership functions such as new sign-ups, billing updates, cancellations, collections, and transfers
  • Conduct outreach calls and provide tours to prospective members, helping them find the right membership option
  • Process retail sales accurately and contribute toward sales goals
  • Clean and sanitize gym equipment, Black Card spa amenities, and shared areas according to established schedules
  • Ensure restrooms are clean, stocked, sanitized, and free of clutter
  • Perform walkthroughs of the facility to promptly address safety, cleanliness, and policy concerns
  • Report facility or maintenance issues such as broken equipment, leaks, or dispenser problems
