The role of Fitness Club Receptionist at Planet Fitness is pivotal in maintaining the exceptional member experience that sets the brand apart. As the first point of contact, the receptionist embodies the spirit of the Judgement Free Zone® by welcoming members, guests, and prospective clients with warmth and professionalism. This position involves multitasking across various responsibilities, including managing membership services such as new sign-ups, billing updates, cancellations, and transfers. The Fitness Club Receptionist also promotes the gym's unique culture by engaging with members on the floor, offering assistance, and encouraging their fitness journeys while upholding club policies. Customer service is a core focus, requiring the ability to address member concerns promptly and escalate issues when necessary to ensure satisfaction and retention.
In addition to administrative duties, the receptionist plays a hands-on role in maintaining the gym's cleanliness and safety standards. This includes cleaning and sanitizing gym equipment, spa amenities, shared areas, restrooms, and conducting facility walkthroughs to identify and report maintenance issues. Job Requirements
- 6-12 months of customer service experience preferred
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Willingness to complete CPR/AED certification (training provided by Planet Fitness)
- Basic computer skills and proficiency

Job Duties
- Welcome members and guests as they enter and exit, assisting with any questions during check-in
- Promote the Judgement Free Zone by engaging with members on the floor, offering assistance, and supporting their fitness goals while upholding club policies
- Address member issues promptly and escalate to management when necessary
- Answer phone calls courteously and assist callers with questions
- Manage membership functions such as new sign-ups, billing updates, cancellations, collections, and transfers
- Conduct outreach calls and provide tours to prospective members, helping them find the right membership option
- Process retail sales accurately and contribute toward sales goals
- Clean and sanitize gym equipment, Black Card spa amenities, and shared areas according to established schedules
- Ensure restrooms are clean, stocked, sanitized, and free of clutter
- Perform walkthroughs of the facility to promptly address safety, cleanliness, and policy concerns
- Report facility or maintenance issues such as broken equipment, leaks, or dispenser problems
