The role of the First Cook/Line Cook at Cedars-Sinai is a vital component of the hospital’s food and nutrition services. This role operates with minimal supervision to ensure that food is prepared and processed to the highest standards by strictly adhering to production techniques and orders. The First Cook/Line Cook is responsible for the timely assembly and delivery of nutritious meals tailored to meet the prescribed dietary requirements of patients. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • at least four years of cooking or comparable work experience preferred

Job Duties

  • assemble trays according to prescribed diets in a timely manner
  • prepare food items according to standard production orders and recipes
  • complete frozen food production orders
  • process diet orders and menus and run required reports from nutrition software
  • prepare food inventory and requisitions accurately
  • follow guidelines for proper storage of food and supplies
  • operate, sanitize, and maintain cooking equipment
  • ensure cleaning and dishwashing procedures are correctly performed
  • comply with policies and adapt to changes in the unit
  • cooperate with team members and leadership
