Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • possession of high school diploma or equivalent
  • certificate of completion of California State Fire Marshal's Office accredited fire academy or Firefighter I certification
  • valid California EMT-P license
  • proof of passing Los Angeles Area/Orange County Fire Chiefs Firefighters Physical Ability Test (BIDDLE) or IAFF CPAT within last 12 months
  • for lateral candidates, at least 12 months of firefighter/paramedic experience desirable
  • excellent physical conditioning to perform heavy lifting, climbing, and other strenuous activities
  • valid California Class C Driver's License by time of appointment
  • ability to work under extreme conditions including exposure to heat, smoke, chemicals, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases
  • comply with Los Angeles County EMT-P accreditation within three months of hire and maintain accreditation thereafter

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • certificate of completion of California State Fire Marshal's Office accredited fire academy or Firefighter I certification
  • valid California EMT-P license
  • proof of passing Los Angeles Area/Orange County Fire Chiefs Firefighters Physical Ability Test (BIDDLE) or IAFF CPAT within last 12 months
  • at least 12 months of firefighter/paramedic experience preferred for lateral candidates
  • knowledge of modern firefighting techniques, emergency medical procedures, and safety protocols
  • ability to maintain physical fitness and perform strenuous activities
  • valid California Class C Driver's License
  • strong oral and written communication skills

Job Duties

  • Respond to emergency medical incidents, structure fires, wildland fires, vehicle accidents, hazardous materials spills/releases, perform fire prevention duties, complete written reports and memoranda, participate in public education programs, engage in emergency/disaster preparedness activities, maintain station and fire apparatus, participate in ongoing emergency medical services and firefighting training, perform additional duties as required
