Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Eight years of firefighting experience including volunteer or paid on-call time
- Four years of supervisory experience or two years as an Antarctic Fire Department Lieutenant
- IFSAC, Pro-Board, DoD, or State certification as Fire Officer II, Firefighter I and II, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, Airport Firefighter, and HazMat First Responder Operations Level
- CPR certification
- NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications
- Physical ability to perform duties in extreme cold and harsh conditions including lifting, climbing, crawling, and dragging hose
- Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods
- Successful completion of NSF-mandated medical, dental, drug screening, and federal background checks
- Valid US driver's license
- US citizenship required for facility credentials and authorization
- Ability to participate in community programs such as chores and recycling efforts

- IFSAC, Pro-Board, DoD, or State Certified Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations Level
- CPR certification

Job Duties
- Maintains a safe workplace program and ensures safety is the highest priority
- Complies with all Environmental, Safety, Health, Waste Management, and Quality Assurance policies and requirements
- Implements fire protection programs in compliance with the United States Antarctic Program
- Responds to and/or supervises fire, EMS, aircraft, and hazardous material emergencies
- Manages emergencies in accordance with the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and supports fire prevention and training programs
- Supervises and evaluates fire department lieutenants
- Ensures readiness and operational status of emergency equipment
- Interacts with agency officials and community members
- Trains and orients fire department personnel on policies and procedures
- Supports Operations Division metrics
- Addresses firehouse performance concerns with the Fire Chief
- Performs additional duties assigned by Assistant Chief
