We are currently seeking a dedicated Finishing Technician to join the Freeman Boatworks team. In this pivotal role, you will play an essential part in maintaining the superior quality of our boats by performing fiberglass and gel coat repairs across hulls, decks, and smaller components. The role demands hands-on expertise in inspecting surfaces for imperfections, executing precise gel coat and fiberglass repairs, and utilizing specialized tools such as grinders, buffers, and spray equipment. You will be expected to mix and apply gel coats and resins in adherence to strict safety guidelines and product specifications to ensure flawless finishes. Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
previous experience in gel coat or paint repair preferred
ability to operate grinders, sanders, buffers, and spray equipment
physical ability to climb, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
willingness to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
ability to handle exposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes, and occasional outdoor conditions
capability to safely handle materials like acetone, resin, fiberglass, putties, glues, and cleaners

Job Qualifications

Previous experience with gel coat and/or paint repair preferred
experience working with fiberglass or in auto body repair is a plus
familiarity with mixing gel coats and/or paints with activators
working knowledge of repair tools including sanders, buffers, and spray equipment
strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

Inspect parts and surfaces to identify required repairs
repair gel coat surface defects such as scratches, voids, and surface distortion
use grinders, sanders, buffers, drills, and other specialty tools to complete repairs
mix and apply gel coat and/or resins in accordance with product specifications and safety guidelines
perform spot gel coat spraying as needed
follow all safety protocols, material handling procedures, and disposal guidelines
