We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef / Expo to join our team. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment where your culinary expertise and leadership skills will be pivotal. The Sous Chef / Expo will take on a multifaceted role that includes mastering all kitchen stations, supervising kitchen staff, ensuring quality control, and overseeing the development of kitchen processes. Beyond that, the position will require managing expo shifts, which are critical to the seamless coordination between the kitchen and front-of-house operations. Our ideal candidate is passionate about food, possesses strong knowledge of food preparation and presentation, and demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.

In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen while adhering strictly to all health and safety regulations. You will be responsible for quick decision-making, handling emergency situations calmly, and fostering a positive and welcoming customer experience. The role demands the ability to lift and carry heavy objects, work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, and remain composed during busy and stressful periods. Regular and predictable attendance is essential. Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as a kitchen supervisor
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation and presentation
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to handle emergency and stressful situations like resolving customer conflicts
  • Ability to make quick decisions
  • Ability to create a positive and welcoming customer experience
  • Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this role, with limited tolerance for unplanned absences or last-minute call-offs

Job Duties

  • Ensure that all meals are prepared to the highest standard and presented in an attractive manner
  • Expedite the food order to be delivered to the tables
  • Monitor food stock levels and prepare or replenish as necessary
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
  • Follow all health and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff and front of house to ensure efficient and effective food preparation
  • Oversee and verify nightly kitchen closing procedures, ensuring all equipment is powered down, stations and dish areas are cleaned and restocked, and staff checkouts are properly completed
  • Supervise kitchen employees
