Job Description

Southeastern is a leading logistics company specializing in freight transportation and delivery services across various regions. The company is committed to providing efficient, reliable, and safe freight handling solutions to its customers by leveraging a team of skilled drivers and advanced operational practices. Southeastern emphasizes the importance of timely deliveries, adherence to safety protocols, and professional customer service. Located strategically, it offers extensive coverage for local freight movements using a fleet of well-maintained vehicles excluding hazardous materials transportation.

The position offered is for a Full-Time Final Mile Driver, a critical role in the company’s delivery operations. This position involves picking up, transporting, and delivering freight locally using non-CDL-A vehicles. The role does not include the transportation of hazardous materials, ensuring a focus on standard freight and parcel delivery. As a Final Mile Driver at Southeastern, the driver is responsible for the safe and punctual delivery of goods from the origin point to the destination. This includes loading and unloading freight either independently or with assistance, as well as utilizing mechanical freight handling equipment when necessary.

The Final Mile Driver must conduct thorough vehicle inspections before, during, and after trips to maintain safe operating conditions, reporting any defects via a written Vehicle Condition Report. The role requires frequent physical effort, including lifting, pulling, and carrying freight, making it essential that candidates are capable and willing to perform these tasks regularly. Attention to detail is critical when verifying shipping documentation and ensuring compliance with all paperwork requirements such as manifests, security seal sheets, bills of lading, shipping orders, and freight bills. These documents must be properly managed and accompanied with shipments upon delivery.

Successful candidates will demonstrate responsibility and professionalism in handling all vehicle and freight-related paperwork, ensuring smooth and compliant delivery operations. The role offers a competitive hourly wage, ranging from $30.30 to $33.40, reflecting the company’s investment in quality drivers who uphold Southeastern’s high standards. The position operates during the first shift, providing a consistent schedule for drivers to plan their work-life balance effectively.

Candidates must meet specific criteria to qualify for this role. They must be at least 21 years old, possess a High School Diploma or GED, and have the ability to pass background checks and alcohol and drug tests satisfactorily. A valid Driver's License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) is mandatory, alongside at least six months of driving experience with a personal motor vehicle. Furthermore, new hires are expected to enter Southeastern’s Driver Trainee Program after successfully completing one year in the Final Mile Driver capacity, emphasizing a pathway for continued professional development within the company.

Preferred qualifications include prior experience with pallet jacks, loading and unloading freight, operating box trucks, general delivery driving, or holding a CDL B license. Southeastern values experienced candidates who can bring practical skills and knowledge to the team. This role represents a vital part of Southeastern’s last-mile delivery strategy, ensuring customers receive their freight efficiently and in excellent condition. The company’s supportive work environment, competitive pay, and clear career development paths make this position ideal for motivated drivers seeking growth in the transportation and logistics industry.
