The People Inc. Fellowship Program in Des Moines, Iowa, is a competitive year-long cohort that runs from June 2026 to May 2027. It is designed to provide emerging talent with full-time, paid work experience within some of People Inc.’s most celebrated brands. Fellows earn $18 per hour and gain practical exposure in a dynamic, well-equipped environment. This opportunity is based out of People Inc.’s Test Kitchen and Content Studios in Des Moines, a cutting-edge facility featuring ten test kitchens, six photo studio kitchens, a prop room, an outdoor grill and BBQ station, and a showcase kitchen and tasting room utilized for demonstrations and events.

The Test Kitchen and Content Studios is staffed by a skilled team of professionals including test kitchen experts, food stylists, and photographers who collectively produce thousands of top-tier recipes, mouth-watering images, and engaging food content every year. This content fuels People Inc.’s diverse print, digital, and social media platforms.

The role of Fellow, Test Kitchen/Food Styling offers an immersive experience ideal for individuals passionate about culinary arts, recipe development, food styling, and digital content creation. The Fellow will assist the Kitchen Coordinator with market orders and grocery shopping, ensuring all ingredients are primed for recipe tests and photo/video shoots. They will create and test recipes aligned with People Inc.’s editorial style, produce fully annotated recipes complete with nutritional analysis and photography, and help stylists prepare food for photo and video shoots while learning the nuances of food styling.

Organization is key to success in this role, as Fellows keep workspaces orderly, maintain ingredient stocks, and track kitchen expenses meticulously. Staying informed on the latest cooking trends, industry innovations, popular cookbooks, and competitors in the food space is an integral part of the role. Candidates are expected to be creative, scientifically minded, and highly adaptable, balancing the artistic and technical aspects of food content creation. They must be enthusiastic about digital trends, social media, and capable of multitasking effectively within a fast-paced environment. The ideal Fellow is self-motivated, team-oriented, deadline-driven, and prepared to support the team with a flexible approach to workflow changes.

This Fellowship not only provides a salary but also a valuable opportunity to build professional skills, network within the food media industry, and gain hands-on experience in one of the nation’s premier culinary content studios. Individuals who thrive in collaborative settings and have a passion for food innovation and storytelling will find this position especially rewarding.
