Job Description

The hiring company is a manufacturer specializing in the production of polyurethane foam seat components, operating a state-of-the-art mixing shop where raw materials and advanced technologies are handled meticulously to ensure top-quality output. This company is committed to maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant production environment, working closely with various departments including Maintenance, Process, Quality, and Production to streamline the manufacturing process. The company fosters a culture of safety and continuous improvement and expects its employees to uphold these values while contributing to the overall success and innovation within the industry.

We are seeking a dedicated Mixing Shop Technician to join our manufacturing team. The Mixing Shop Technician plays a vital role in managing materials, equipment, and technologies essential for producing polyurethane foam seat components. This position requires close attention to detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to maintain consistent chemical and material levels for uninterrupted production. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely unloading tanker trucks carrying raw materials, mixing chemicals according to precise recipes including necessary receiving tests, and ensuring all work areas including the chemical mix shop and stockrooms are kept orderly and compliant with safety standards.

In addition to material management, the Mixing Shop Technician ensures spill clean-ups are conducted immediately using appropriate methods and guidelines, maintains ample supply of release agents, anti-noise materials, and glues, and monitors chemical levels across various production lines, making sure production is never interrupted due to low material availability. This role includes the important task of transferring critical knowledge and updates between shifts to assure continuity and operational efficiency.

The technician will work under minimal supervision, requiring good mechanical aptitude for operating digital and mechanical scales and a keen ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). The role involves interaction with multiple departments and stakeholders, such as maintenance personnel, process technicians, packers, line leads, and supplier truck drivers, ensuring fluid communication and cooperation. Compliance with key industry audits and standards such as IATF, ISO, and TISAX is essential and conducted through regular audits and risk assessments.

Physical demands include standing for extended periods, repetitive lifting of heavy materials (frequently up to 50 pounds and handling of 55-gallon drums in excess of 400 pounds), working outdoors in varied weather conditions, and operating forklifts and drum handling equipment safely and efficiently. This job demands strong reasoning skills to define problems, collect data, and develop effective solutions for continuous improvement in the mixing process.

Candidates must have prior experience with hazardous materials and batch mixing of chemicals, with a proven capability to manage the loading and unloading of liquid tankers. High school diploma or GED is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Being able to work independently, having a strong work ethic, and possessing leadership qualities will enhance success in this role. The company supports reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions effectively.
