Job Description

The City of Loveland, Colorado, is a vibrant and growing community known for its exceptional quality of life, abundant sunshine, and stunning natural surroundings. Located just 30 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park, Loveland offers residents and visitors unparalleled access to outdoor recreational activities, cultural events, and a thriving local economy. The city prides itself on its arts scene, featuring nearly 500 sculptures and public art installations, and hosts various festivals and entertainment options throughout the year. Recognized for its environmental initiatives, Loveland has been the top residential recycling city in Colorado for four consecutive years. It has also won prestigious awards such as the 2020 Governor's Award for Downtown Excellence, highlighting its commitment to urban development and community enrichment. Loveland is celebrated as one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family in the United States and is noted as one of the most idyllic and picturesque towns in the country by national media outlets.

The City of Loveland is currently seeking a dependable and resourceful Farmers Market Lead for a seasonal role that plays a critical part in managing the day-to-day operations of the local farmers market. This position is seasonal, spanning 10 months annually, working less than 30 hours per week with varying hours depending on the time of year. The Farmers Market Lead will be responsible for activities primarily scheduled on Sundays from June to September during market hours, along with off-site responsibilities during the off-market season.

In this role, the Market Lead will oversee all operational elements of the farmers market, including vendor coordination, booth assignments, market setup and breakdown, and direct supervision of seasonal staff and volunteers. The individual will also serve as a key liaison between vendors and the city, ensuring compliance with rules, addressing issues promptly, and fostering positive vendor relationships. Responsibilities extend to promoting and managing food assistance programs such as SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks, which support community members in accessing fresh, local produce.

In addition to operational duties, the Market Lead will actively contribute to marketing efforts by managing the market’s online presence through social media platforms and the website, developing promotional materials, and coordinating events such as live musical performances and vendor showcases to enhance the market's profile and attract a diverse customer base. Financial management is another critical component of the role, involving vendor fee collection, record keeping, invoicing, and reconciliation tasks.

This position requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate with a diverse group ranging from vendors to city staff and community members. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in market operations, event coordination, or related fields, combined with leadership capabilities to manage staff and logistical details efficiently. With a competitive salary ranging from $17.33 to $23.40 per hour based on experience and qualifications, this role offers the opportunity to engage deeply with the Loveland community while enhancing local food systems and supporting small businesses.

Working conditions include exposure to outdoor environments and physical activity such as walking, standing, lifting, and working in various weather conditions. The City of Loveland champions its mission of accountability, transparency, collaboration, innovation, safety, and excellent service delivered with courtesy and kindness. Employees enjoy a supportive work environment with an emphasis on work-life balance, professional growth, and development opportunities.
