The Outlets Manager role at Moody Gardens is a full-time position within the Food & Beverage Department, reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Director. This key leadership role involves managing and coordinating the activities of the outlet staff to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality food and beverage products and services. The Outlets Manager is entrusted with maintaining operational efficiency, supporting financial performance, and upholding customer satisfaction standards. The manager will execute staff recruitment, training, supervision, and development to build a skilled, motivated team. They are also responsible for conducting departmental meetings, scheduling staff assignments, and monitoring service quality throughout all outlet areas.

In this capacity, the Outlets Manager fosters a positive interaction with customers, promoting hotel facilities and services while effectively resolving any guest concerns. The role requires vigilance in quality control by verifying product taste and presentation, managing inventory levels, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Financial oversight includes managing payroll, equipment costs, and implementing cost-saving measures to enhance profitability. The manager utilizes computer systems for reservations, forecasting, and record keeping, while coordinating maintenance for all equipment. Job Requirements

  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • Considerable skill in math algebraic equations using percentages
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees, requiring high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods
  • Ability to speak Spanish preferred
  • Ability to walk, stand and/or bend continuously to perform essential job functions
  • Ability to move up to 600 pounds with wheeled assistance
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and lift lighter objects overhead

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • College degree preferred
  • At least two years food and beverage supervisory experience
  • Thorough knowledge of food and beverage outlet operations including foods, beverages, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction
  • Ability to obtain TABC and Food Handlers Certification
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with inventory management and cost control
  • Proficiency in computer applications related to food and beverage operations
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures in food service environments
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities

Job Duties

  • Interview, select, train, supervise, counsel, and discipline restaurant staff for efficient operation of the outlets
  • Organize and conduct pre-shift and departmental meetings communicating pertinent information such as house count and menu changes
  • Schedule and direct staff in their work assignments
  • Interact positively with customers promoting hotel facilities and services
  • Resolve problems to the satisfaction of involved parties
  • Answer telephones in a clear voice, coordinating and documenting reservations
  • Organize special events in the restaurant such as receptions
  • Maintain rapport with all departments and attend relevant meetings
  • Move throughout facility and kitchen areas to monitor and ensure food/drink quality and service standards
  • Verify temperatures, judge appearance and taste of products, and check preparation methods to determine quality
  • Give guidance towards improvement and make necessary adjustments for consistency
  • Maintain profitability of outlet to support overall hotel operation
  • Control payroll and equipment costs
  • Ensure par stock levels are maintained by calculating inventory, ordering and retrieving supplies, and stocking shelves
  • Evaluate cost effectiveness of all aspects of the operation
  • Develop and implement cost-saving and profit-enhancing measures
  • Utilize computers to accurately charge customers, create forecast and revenue reports, and write correspondence
  • Input and retrieve data and change computer procedures using complex programs
  • Ensure maintenance of equipment by calling for repairs and training staff on proper use
  • Conduct competitive research and report trends and recommendations
  • Support the entire Food & Beverage operation including supervising other areas if necessary, handling special projects, running promotions, public relations, and marketing
  • Provide a clean and safe environment by assigning and assisting with cleaning
  • Issue and audit banks for all outlet cashiers
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned
