The role of Host/Hostess at The Sea Pines Resort is critical in delivering a positive and lasting first impression to all visitors. The Host/Hostess serves as the face of the resort's dining establishments, greeting guests warmly, managing waitlists, and ensuring that each guest's arrival and seating is handled smoothly and efficiently. This position requires an individual who can convey the resort’s high standards of friendliness, service, and professionalism with genuine enthusiasm.

In this role, the Host/Hostess is responsible for monitoring guest seating preferences, informing guests of current promotions, and facilitating a seamless transition between the front of house and service staff, ensuring that guests feel welcomed and attended to from the moment they enter until their departure. The Host/Hostess also plays a vital role in supporting the dining team by answering phones, taking to-go orders when necessary, and managing the point-of-sale system with accuracy and confidence.

Candidates for this position must have valid U.S. work authorization at the time of hire. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in customer service within a restaurant or banquet setting and possess a solid understanding of full-service restaurant operations. Familiarity with menu items, specials, and resort standards related to beverage and food service is essential to provide knowledgeable responses to guest inquiries and enhance the guest dining experience.

Job Duties

  • Greet incoming and departing guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact
  • escort guests to assigned dining area
  • present menus
  • announce waiter’s name
  • use visual cues to seat guests in either the bar or dining area depending on their preference
  • inform guests of current promotion and who will be serving them
  • adhere to all posted opening/closing side work duties as it relates to position
  • attend pre-shift at designated time
  • be aware of daily specials
  • be knowledgeable of all menu items, their garnish, contents and preparation methods
  • answer any guest questions about the menu in a direct, concise way
  • memorize table numbers, station numbers, and contents of stations
  • exhibit a sense of teamwork, pride and confidence at all times
  • be friendly and smile with guests as well as other employees
  • become familiar with all special coupons, discounts and payments accepted at the resort and how to process them through MICROS
  • have thorough understanding of hours of operations for all Sea Pines Resort outlets as well as entertainment and special event schedules
  • become proficient in cash handling and point of sale check administration
  • become familiar with all restaurant daily paperwork as it applies to the operation of each shift
  • carry out all reasonable requests by management which the employee is capable of performing
