The Monterey Beach Hotel in Monterey, CA, is currently seeking an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager to join its team. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Food and Beverage operations by assisting with coordination, supervision, and directing daily activities to ensure smooth and profitable functioning of the outlets. The Assistant F&B Manager will focus on maintaining high-quality products and service standards while promoting the business and managing employee turnover effectively. This role involves adherence to budget targets related to revenue and payroll, while constantly striving to maintain productivity and operational quality. As an operational employee management (OEM) position, this role requires flexibility regarding overtime hours which are compensated according to policy.

In this role, the Assistant F&B Manager is expected to foster a positive and attentive work culture that emphasizes friendliness, helpfulness, and courtesy towards guests, managers, and colleagues. Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field
  • Or a 4-year college degree
  • Or a 2-year college degree and 1 or more years of related experience
  • Ability to exert medium physical effort including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • Approach encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, and courteous manner
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance as per Highgate standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming

Job Duties

  • Oversee all aspects of the daily operation of the F&B outlet
  • Supervise outlet personnel
  • Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner
  • Work with other F&B managers and keep them informed of issues
  • Assist in coordinating and monitoring Loss Prevention
  • Prepare and submit required reports including wage progress, payroll, revenue, and employee schedules
  • Monitor quality of service and assist in menu planning and preparation
  • Ensure compliance with local liquor laws, health and sanitation regulations, and SOPs
  • Conduct staff performance reviews and ensure employee training
  • Interview candidates and complete tip reporting
  • Implement and monitor corporate promotions
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
