Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor providing a broad range of products and services to restaurants, healthcare and hospitality facilities, government operations, and educational institutions across the United States. The company is committed to delivering excellence in food safety, quality, and operational efficiency, supporting its clients with innovative solutions, cutting-edge technology, and an experienced team dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of the foodservice industry. As a major player in the distribution sector, US Foods offers comprehensive benefits and a dynamic, inclusive work environment focused on employee growth and community impact.

The available position is for a Facilities Manager role within a distribution center that handles temperature-sensitive food products. This leadership role involves overseeing the maintenance, sanitation, refrigeration systems, and security equipment critical to preserving product integrity and operational functionality. The Facilities Manager will direct a team of maintenance and sanitation associates, ensuring a safety-first culture and compliance with all regulatory standards including OSHA, EPA, USDA, and FDA. The role demands expertise in cold chain management, capital project coordination, and vendor relations to support high-volume distribution activities efficiently.

In this role, the Facilities Manager will monitor refrigeration systems closely to maintain optimal temperature control and collaborate with Quality Assurance and Food Safety teams to prevent product loss. The position requires managing multiple facility operations projects with a focus on minimizing disruption to daily distribution activities. Recruiting, training, coaching, and evaluating maintenance personnel are also core responsibilities, alongside managing labor hours and budgets. The Facilities Manager will maintain strong vendor relationships to guarantee compliance and high service standards from third-party service providers such as refrigeration contractors and pest control teams.

The Facilities Manager will also oversee facility assets including racking and material handling equipment, ensuring lifecycle maintenance and recommending upgrades for efficiency improvements. The role entails a significant regulatory compliance focus, performing internal audits, and maintaining documentation for food safety, process safety management, ammonia refrigeration safety, and fire protection systems. Emergency response planning and crisis management efforts will be key components, partnering with safety departments and local emergency agencies.

The position requires a minimum of five years of facilities management experience, with at least three years focused on refrigeration systems within cold chain distribution. Applicants should have proven leadership experience managing teams, budgets, and vendor contracts. Strong familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and data analytics is essential for driving performance improvements. The role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills to manage competing deadlines effectively.

Additional qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Facility Operations, Engineering, Construction, or related fields, or equivalent relevant experience. Certification and training such as Ammonia Operator Certification, PSM/RMP certification, and CMMS training are expected within specified timelines for ammonia sites. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel between sites as needed are required. The work environment includes office and distribution center settings with variable temperatures and requires flexible scheduling including nights and weekends for 24/7 operational support.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $90,000 to $130,000 plus an annual 10% salary bonus and includes a comprehensive benefits package starting from day one. Benefits encompass health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement plans, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability coverage, employee stock purchase plans, and life insurance. This role is ideal for a driven leader seeking to elevate facility operations, inspire associates, and advance their career within a dynamic and supportive company environment.
