Job Description

U-Haul is a renowned American company that has been serving do-it-yourself movers and their households since 1945. The company was founded by L.S. "Sam" Shoen and his wife, Anna Mary Carty Shoen, who noticed the widespread need for affordable and accessible one-way moving equipment after World War II. Their vision revolutionized moving by spreading the cost of ownership among many users, which significantly facilitated the mobility of the populations across the United States and Canada. The company’s iconic orange trailers have become synonymous with reliable and convenient moving solutions, making U-Haul a household name for decades.

U-Haul Holding Company and its family of companies have fostered a culture of health and wellness, emphasizing safe and supportive work environments for their team members. In line with their health policies, U-Haul maintains a nicotine-free hiring policy across multiple states to promote wellness, which reflects their commitment to employee health and community well-being.

The position of Facility Housekeeper at U-Haul plays an essential role in maintaining the company’s reputation for exceptional service. Facility Housekeepers ensure that U-Haul locations are clean, safe, and inviting for customers and staff alike. This role involves various cleaning and maintenance tasks, such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and wiping down storage units, hallways, restrooms, and elevators. Housekeepers also handle trash disposal and manage cleaning supply inventories to maintain operational efficiency.

This job opportunity offers new hires immediate income with the chance to start and get paid the same day. U-Haul offers an extensive benefits package including career stability, on-the-job training, life insurance, legal aid through the MetLaw program, auto and home insurance discounts, and numerous employee discounts on technology products, cell phone plans, and travel. Eligible employees receive paid holidays, vacation, and sick days, participation in 401k and stock options, access to a 24-hour pediatric physician, health, dental, and vision plans, subsidized gym memberships, business and travel insurance, and Employee Assistance Programs such as YouMatter EAP and LifeLock identity theft protection.

Facility Housekeepers at U-Haul benefit from a supportive work environment where opportunities for advancement are abundant. U-Haul is committed to equal opportunity employment and accommodates all applicants throughout the hiring process. The work environment involves moderate risks, requiring safety precautions such as protective clothing and gear due to exposure to moving parts and cleaning chemicals. The role also demands physical activities including lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing, and moving equipment.

With an hourly pay range between $16.5 and $18.5, this role is ideal for proactive individuals who have strong organization skills, a willingness to learn, and a self-starter attitude. This position not only lays the foundation for a rewarding career at U-Haul but also offers invaluable on-the-job training and the chance to be part of a dynamic and dedicated team.
