This opportunity is for a full-time Facility Cook position covering facilities located in Sacramento and Orangevale, California. The Facility Cook plays a crucial role in the organization by preparing balanced, nutritious meals that support the health and recovery of clients and live-in staff members. Working as part of a collaborative team, the individual in this role will help create weekly menus that adhere to dietary guidelines, accommodate special dietary restrictions, and fit within budgetary constraints, ultimately contributing to the well-being of clients. Additionally, this role demands a high standard of cleanliness and organization within the kitchen, ensuring food safety and compliance with health and sanitation regulations at all times.
The Facility Cook must manage kitchen supplies efficiently, minimize waste, and maintain sanitary storage of food while practicing safe food handling and preparation techniques. Creativity in meal preparation and presentation is encouraged to enhance the client experience. The position involves professional interaction with clients and staff while securing kitchen tools and following regulatory guidelines such as the California Food Handler's Card standards. An important aspect of this role is the ability to follow detailed policies and procedures set forth by Sierra Health and Wellness and governing health agencies.
This position offers competitive pay ranging from $20.00 to $24.50 per hour and includes comprehensive benefits for full-time employees, such as paid vacation, holidays, sick days, and medical, dental, and vision coverage after eligibility periods. Job Requirements
- Must have the ability to read, write, and perform basic math skills
- Knowledge of special dietary needs and restrictions
- Must have basic computer skills including the ability to review, write, and read emails
- Must have California Food Handler’s Card
- CPR/First Aid training (obtained upon hire)
Job Qualifications
- Possess a High School diploma or a GED
- Two to five years of kitchen experience
- Knowledge of special dietary needs and restrictions

Job Duties
- Prepares balanced, nutritious, and appealing meals for clients in accordance with dietary guidelines, ensuring special dietary needs and restrictions are accommodated
- Collaborates with the team to help create weekly menus that promote health while considering budgetary constraints and available ingredients
- Maintains a clean, sanitized, and organized kitchen environment by following all food safety, health, and sanitation protocols in compliance with state and local regulations including but not limited to checking temperatures in all refrigerators/freezers where client food is stored
- Monitors kitchen supplies, ingredients, and equipment, and supports ordering supplies as needed while minimizing waste
- Shows creativity in meal preparation and presentation
- Interacts professionally and respectfully with clients and team members
- Secures kitchen tools/knives properly and safely
- Follows Food Handler’s regulations for proper food preparation, temperatures and cooking times
- Engages in proper and safe food storage after each meal and dates the items
- Performs other duties as assigned
