Our Orangevale, CA facility is a brand new 15-bed inpatient mental health center providing specialized and personalized care to voluntary clients. Our dedicated team works collaboratively to deliver holistic treatment plans tailored to individual needs, fostering both physical and emotional healing. We are currently seeking a full-time Facility Cook to join our team and play a key role in supporting the health and wellness of our clients and staff.

The Facility Cook at Sierra Health and Wellness plays a vital role in preparing balanced, nutritious, and appealing meals aligned with clients' dietary needs and restrictions. This role requires a passion for food preparation, an understanding of dietary requirements, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and compliant kitchen environment. The Facility Cook collaborates closely with our healthcare and wellness teams to develop weekly menus that promote health while adhering to budgetary considerations and ingredient availability. Responsibilities include ensuring all meals meet food safety standards, monitoring kitchen supplies, minimizing waste, and maintaining sanitation standards in accordance with California regulations. The position also involves securing kitchen tools safely and practicing proper food storage and handling procedures.

We offer competitive pay ranging from $20.00 to $24.50 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees. Training for CPR and First Aid is provided upon hire. Successful candidates must possess a California Food Handler's Card and demonstrate basic math and computer skills. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Possess a high school diploma or a GED
  • two to five years of kitchen experience
  • CPR/First Aid knowledge
  • valid driver's license
  • ability to read, write, and perform basic math skills
  • knowledge of special dietary needs and restrictions
  • basic computer skills including the ability to review, write, and read emails
  • must have California Food Handler's Card

Job Duties

  • Prepares balanced, nutritious, and appealing meals for clients in accordance with dietary guidelines, ensuring special dietary needs and restrictions are accommodated
  • collaborates with the team to help create weekly menus that promote health, while considering budgetary constraints and available ingredients
  • maintains a clean, sanitized, and organized kitchen environment by following all food safety, health, and sanitation protocols in compliance with state and local regulations including but not limited to checking temperatures in all refrigerators/freezers where client food is stored
  • monitors kitchen supplies, ingredients, and equipment, and supports ordering supplies as needed while minimizing waste
  • shows creativity in meal preparation and presentation
  • interacts professionally and respectfully with clients and team members
  • secures kitchen tools/knives properly and safely
  • follows Food Handler's regulations for proper food preparation, temperatures and cooking times
  • engages in proper and safe food storage after each meal and dates the items
  • other duties as assigned
