The role of Facilities Technician within United Airlines' Technical Operations team is vital to maintaining the high standards of safety and reliability of the airline's facilities and equipment. This team supports the upkeep and repair of aircraft maintenance facilities, ground support equipment, and associated infrastructure essential to smooth and efficient airline operations. Facilities Technicians specialize in general building maintenance, with a strong focus on electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repairing AC and DC circuits, high voltage systems (up to 480 volts), and industrial wiring. Candidates are expected to apply their knowledge of electrical schematics and perform work autonomously and safely. The role also involves familiarity with related building equipment and trades, such as air handling units, plumbing, fire systems, steam fitting, and conveyor repairs.

Working at United requires dedication and flexibility, as Facilities Technicians are expected to work around-the-clock shifts including weekends and holidays, often in varying weather conditions and sometimes outdoors or at elevated heights. Compensation for this position begins at $34.52 per hour and includes eligibility for profit sharing bonuses. Job Requirements

  • Twenty-four months experience in at least three of the following areas: electrical including 480 volt 3 phase
  • structural including steel frame construction
  • HVAC including building management systems
  • mechanical including conveyors
  • plumbing
  • PLC electronic/computer controls
  • must have completed high school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • ability to maintain and repair all building disciplines including heavy mechanical and welding
  • work may be indoors or outside or in elevated areas anywhere on airport
  • must be able to climb and work from ladders, and/or walk for extended periods
  • moderate lifting
  • must possess sufficient tooling to perform required tasks
  • computer experience for input and retrieval of data
  • qualified candidates must be immediately available for full time employment
  • must possess a valid, clean, applicable state driver's license

Job Qualifications

  • Completed high school diploma, GED or equivalent

  • ability to maintain and repair all building disciplines including heavy mechanical and welding

Job Duties
