Job Description
Allergy Partners is a well-established healthcare provider specializing in allergy and immunology services. With a strong commitment to patient care and safety, Allergy Partners operates multiple hubs where they prepare and dispense allergenic extracts and related products. The company prides itself on maintaining high standards of quality and compliance in all aspects of its laboratory operations. Employing a team-oriented approach, Allergy Partners fosters a professional and supportive environment that values communication, accuracy, and efficiency. The company encourages ongoing education and training for its staff to ensure that they are up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
The Extract Lab Technician role at Allergy Partners is a critical position responsible for the precise preparation and handling of allergenic extracts used in patient care. This role requires the capability to correctly identify, measure, and mix ingredients in a calm and collaborative lab environment. Initially, technicians work under supervision and are expected to gain proficiency within 90 days to operate independently with minimal guidance while servicing their assigned hubs. Communication skills with co-workers and a team-player attitude are essential to success in this role. The technician will also be required to handle all aspects of the lab's daily, weekly, and monthly operations, ensuring compliance with safety protocols such as USP 797 and proper use of personal protective equipment including gloves, face shields, face masks, lab jackets, and hair coverings.
Candidates entering this role should have a high school diploma as a minimum, with a preference for those holding an AS, BA, or BS degree in life sciences or equivalent relevant experience. Pharmacy technicians, certified medical assistants, or individuals with a medical background will find their skills applicable in this position. Competency testing and training on aseptic technique, allergen extract preparation, and media-fill testing are part of the structured development program designed to ensure safety and quality standards. The technician will also conduct critical tasks involving the use of syringes and needles to draw allergens, create patch panels, and maintain meticulous documentation using Microsoft computer applications.
Working as an Extract Lab Technician at Allergy Partners not only requires strong technical and organizational skills but also emphasizes detail orientation, the ability to multitask, and effective communication with leaders, physicians, and coworkers. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and the role demands cleanliness, professionalism, and adherence to rigorous lab attire standards. The ability to pass annual assessments, maintain compliance with company policies, and complete mandated training such as CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and information security further illustrate the thoroughness expected of this role. Allergy Partners ensures that technicians are supported with thorough procedural knowledge and ethical guidelines to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.
