We are currently seeking a motivated and energetic Food Runner to join our team, a position essential to ensuring smooth communication and coordination between the kitchen staff and wait staff. This pivotal role involves helping facilitate the dining flow by promptly and accurately delivering food orders to customers and managing the efficient clearing and resetting of tables. As a Food Runner, you will serve as an important liaison, helping bridge the gap between the kitchen and dining floor to create seamless service. The Food Runner position is available on both a full-time and part-time basis with hourly pay ranging from $15.00 to $18.00, plus tips. Shifts vary and include evenings and weekends, offering flexibility for individuals with varying availability. As a Food Runner, you will be required to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where physical stamina and excellent customer service skills are vital. You will assist in setting tables, serving welcome drinks, ensuring food is served at the proper temperature, handling guest inquiries regarding menu items, and maintaining cleanliness and organization at dining stations. Your role will also involve attentive communication, particularly regarding special dietary requests or customer feedback, which contributes to maintaining high guest satisfaction levels.

Job Requirements

  • Availability to work various shifts including weekends
  • Physical ability and stamina to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a Food Expeditor or similar entry level role in a restaurant
  • Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
  • Multi tasking abilities
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast paced work environment
  • Degree in hospitality or restaurant management is a plus

Job Duties

  • Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers tables rapidly and accurately
  • Act as the contact point between Front of the House and Back of the House staff
  • Communicate food orders to chefs paying attention to priorities and special requests including food allergies
  • Assist the wait staff with table setting by fetching and placing appropriate tableware eating utensils and napkins
  • Serve welcome drinks and hors doeuvres upon guests arrival
  • Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards including proper temperature
  • Check in with customers and take additional orders or refill water as needed
  • Remove dirty dishes and utensils
  • Answer guests questions about ingredients and menu items
  • Inform restaurant staff about customers feedback or requests including when they ask for the check
  • Make sure families with young children get kids menus and special silverware sets
