Delaware North Gaming, a renowned entity in the hospitality and gaming industry, is currently seeking dedicated full-time and part-time Cooks to become part of their dynamic team at Southland Casino in West Memphis, Arkansas. As a Cook at Southland Casino, you will play a crucial role in elevating your culinary career. This position involves not only preparing high-quality food adhering to strict portion sizes, quality standards, and departmental policies but also participating in training new team members and maintaining up-to-date sanitation and health compliance. Working with top-notch ingredients and modern culinary techniques, you will help ensure that each menu item served is fresh, properly prepared, and stored to maintain the best quality. The role offers varied schedules including day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts, with pay ranging from $15.00 to $17.50 per hour, providing flexible work opportunities to fit different lifestyles. Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more, reach up to seven feet, bend, and squat
- standing and walking for the entire length of shift in moderate to high noise levels
- manual ability to chop, mix, blend, whip a variety of foods and liquids and operate kitchen equipment
- exposed to variable temperatures
- no high school diploma or GED required
Job Qualifications
- At least 1 year of previous experience in a back-of-the-house food-service position
- ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes
- basic math skills, with the ability to calculate and follow recipe measurements
- strong attention to detail
- ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- good communication skills
Job Duties
- Prepare food to comply with all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and procedures, ensuring proper food temperatures are maintained, food is stored correctly, the freshness and quality of all menu items, and packages all products to proper specifications
- keep workstation, coolers, and equipment clean, organized, sanitized, and sufficiently stocked
- use waste control guidelines and record all waste on the spoilage sheet
- perform opening, closing, and side work duties and end-of-day inventory
- assist in training team members
- operate kitchen equipment
- uphold all health codes and sanitation regulations
