The company prides itself on building lasting relationships with its clientele through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and experts who not only deliver top-quality food products but also provide insightful advice to help businesses improve their operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. Performance Foodservice emphasizes a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect, maintaining a safe and inclusive work environment. This approach supports the company’s commitment to helping independent restaurant owners achieve their dreams and supports America’s food distribution system with essential services.
The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a vital position responsible for the timely and safe delivery of food and related products. This position entails operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight shifts. Drivers will participate in a comprehensive two-week training program in Temple, Texas, ensuring they are fully equipped to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards. This is a full-time opportunity offering competitive annual pay ranging from $80,000 to $100,000, including a performance incentive and a $10,000 sign-on bonus subject to eligibility terms.
In this role, drivers act as the face of the company, building strong relationships with customers by ensuring their orders are delivered accurately, on schedule, and in excellent condition. Responsibilities include conducting all required safety checks, performing pre and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, and ensuring compliance with DOT rules and company policies. Drivers will also manage customer interactions professionally, handle paperwork accurately, secure freight properly, collect payments when necessary, and undertake general housekeeping duties for their vehicles and trailers.
Performance Foodservice supports its employees with a comprehensive benefits package that includes day-one health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plans, 401(k) with employer matching, education assistance programs, and paid time off, among others. The company promotes growth opportunities for employees, recognizing the essential nature of their work within the broader food supply chain.
Candidates for this CDL-A Driver position must be at least 21 years old with a valid CDL-A license, possess at least 12 months of commercial driving experience, and meet state licensing and certification requirements. Additional prerequisites include a clean motor vehicle record for the past three years, successful completion of drug tests, background checks, and road tests, and the ability to obtain or hold a valid DOT health card. Physical demands include the ability to handle lifting and moving products weighing between 10 and up to 90 pounds using associated equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. Availability Monday through Saturday is mandatory as part of the scheduling requirements.
This role offers a unique opportunity to join a respected company dedicated to quality, customer service, and employee growth within the food distribution industry. Performance Foodservice is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusivity, offering a respectful workplace for all employees regardless of their background or characteristics protected by law.
