Located within the Ingersoll Family Medicine clinic, UnityPoint Health seeks a dedicated Experience Specialist/Receptionist to join its healthcare team on a full-time basis. The position offers a Monday through Friday schedule, from 7:45 AM to 4:45 PM, with comprehensive benefits included.
The Experience Specialist/Receptionist position is a pivotal role within the patient experience journey at UnityPoint Health. Serving as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, the individual in this role is essential in crafting a warm, welcoming, and professional environment that reflects the organization’s high standards of care and service. This role blends administrative duties with outstanding customer service, contributing directly to the clinic's efficiency and reputation. Responsibilities include managing front desk operations, greeting and guiding patients through the check-in and check-out processes, verifying insurance and personal information, and scheduling appointments through the clinic's electronic health record (EHR) system. In addition to these tasks, the Experience Specialist/Receptionist handles incoming communications, provides assistance with billing inquiries, and works alongside clinical staff to maintain smooth patient flow and reduce wait times. Adherence to HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality is also a critical component of the role. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1+ year of customer service or front desk experience preferred healthcare setting is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask required
- Basic proficiency in computer systems and software required including Microsoft Office and scheduling platforms
- Professional appearance and demeanor required

Job Duties
- Greet patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism creating a welcoming environment
- Check patients in and out verify personal and insurance information and update records as needed
- Schedule confirm and manage patient appointments using the clinic's electronic health record (EHR) system
- Answer incoming phone calls respond to inquiries and direct calls to the appropriate departments
- Collect and process payments issue receipts and assist with billing questions
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient records and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Monitor the waiting area to ensure cleanliness comfort and an organized flow of traffic
- Coordinate with clinical staff to manage patient flow and minimize wait times
- Perform general administrative duties such as data entry filing faxing and scanning documents
- Assist in onboarding new patients and educating them on clinic policies and procedures
