Job Requirements

  • Culinary degree or completion of certified apprenticeship program
  • Minimum 2-3 years management experience in high-volume venues or contract foodservice industry
  • Experience with Kosher kitchens and supply chains
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Flexibility to work extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or certified apprenticeship program graduate with minimum 2-3 years management experience in high-volume venues or contract foodservice industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Experience managing Kosher supply chains
  • Experience cooking in Kosher kitchens
  • Experience training and coaching staff in Kosher food preparation practices
  • Strong commitment to high customer and client service
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Ability to work in union environment a plus
  • Customer service oriented with ability to interact with all management levels
  • Flexibility to work extended hours including late nights, weekends and holidays
  • Teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • High level of attention to detail and organization
  • Strong leadership skills

Job Duties

  • Assist in maintaining high standards of sanitation and cleanliness
  • Aid the Executive Chef in maintaining the highest possible rating from the Health Department
  • Assist in the training, safety, sanitation and accident prevention controls within the kitchen
  • Help develop and test recipes as well as techniques for food preparation and presentation to ensure high quality
  • Assist the Executive Chef in planning and developing Kosher menu items and recipes for Hawaii Convention Center
  • Ensure consistent food qualities in presentation and preparation
  • Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory control within budget guidelines
