The role available is for a Culinary professional working under the direction of the Executive Chef. This position is responsible for supporting all culinary operations within the facility, overseeing production, operations, and sanitation aspects of culinary and stewarding functions. Key responsibilities include maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation, aiding the Executive Chef in securing excellent health department ratings, training kitchen staff in safety and sanitation, developing and testing recipes with a focus on quality, and assisting with Kosher menu planning and development for the Hawaii Convention Center. The role also entails controlling labor and operational expenses through effective scheduling and inventory management while ensuring all kitchen equipment is properly maintained. Additionally, this role plays a crucial part in maintaining consistent food quality in presentation and preparation, conducting taste checks, running pre-shift meetings, and ensuring products meet temperature and timing standards. The position demands flexibility to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, along with strong leadership and organizational skills. This is a full-time on-site opportunity located at the Hawaii Convention Center. Job Requirements
- Culinary degree or completion of certified apprenticeship program
- Minimum 2-3 years management experience in high-volume venues or contract foodservice industry
- Experience with Kosher kitchens and supply chains
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Flexibility to work extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong leadership abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Job Qualifications
- Culinary degree or certified apprenticeship program graduate with minimum 2-3 years management experience in high-volume venues or contract foodservice industry

Job Duties
- Assist in maintaining high standards of sanitation and cleanliness
- Aid the Executive Chef in maintaining the highest possible rating from the Health Department
- Assist in the training, safety, sanitation and accident prevention controls within the kitchen
- Help develop and test recipes as well as techniques for food preparation and presentation to ensure high quality
- Assist the Executive Chef in planning and developing Kosher menu items and recipes for Hawaii Convention Center
- Ensure consistent food qualities in presentation and preparation
- Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory control within budget guidelines
