The current opportunity is for a role that involves supporting the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations within an acute care healthcare facility. This position offers a salary range of $65,000 to $67,000, depending on experience. The role focuses on ensuring a safe and sanitary work environment for kitchen staff while overseeing the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals in accordance with corporate standards. Key responsibilities include coordinating kitchen personnel activities, creatively preparing and presenting food cost-effectively, assisting with planning, inventory management, ordering, and food preparation. Additionally, the role supports cost control management and works in collaboration with marketing and culinary teams to roll out innovative culinary programs.
The successful candidate will supervise the cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of the kitchen, supporting overall food quality and safety. This position requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of culinary experience, excellent communication and customer service skills, and familiarity with food cost controls and computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet research. Experience with high-volume and complex foodservice operations, institutional cooking, and batch cooking will be highly valued. Job Requirements
- B.S. degree in Culinary Arts, Food Services Technology/Management, or related field
- 3-5 years of culinary experience
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of food cost control
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and internet
- Ability to work in a high-volume foodservice environment
- Ability to maintain kitchen sanitation and safety standards
Job Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Culinary Arts, Food Services Technology/Management, or related field
- A.O.S. degree in Culinary Arts with additional specialized training
- 3-5 years of relevant culinary experience
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and oral/written communication skills
- Knowledge of food cost and how it pertains to a kitchen, product and quality identification
- Must be experienced with computers including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E-mail and the Internet
- High volume, complex foodservice operations experience is highly desirable
- Institutional and batch cooking experiences are helpful
Job Duties
- Coordinates activities of kitchen personnel engaged in preparation of food service
- Ensures that high quality food items are creatively prepared and presented in a cost effective manner
- Assists in all phases of planning, ordering, inventory, and food preparation
- Supports the management of cost controls and control expenditures for the account
- Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams
- Supervises co-workers to ensure the cleanliness, organization, and overall sanitation of the kitchen
- Performs other duties as assigned
