Job Description
Our company is a busy and well-established Catering Company located in the Denver Metro Area. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional culinary experiences for a diverse range of events, from corporate functions to private celebrations. With a strong emphasis on quality, professionalism, and customer satisfaction, we operate a dynamic kitchen environment where creativity meets precision. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure that every dish not only meets but exceeds client expectations. As an industry leader in catering services within the region, we maintain high operational standards and a reputation for excellence in food preparation and event execution.
We are currently seeking a full-time Executive Sous Chef to join our culinary team and play a vital role in managing kitchen operations. This salaried, overtime-exempt position offers an annual salary ranging from $65,000 to $68,000. The Executive Sous Chef will share responsibility for all culinary activities in the kitchen alongside the Culinary Director and Chef de Cuisine. This role requires a seasoned professional who can manage and oversee food production with a keen eye for timing, quality, and presentation while ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently.
In this role, you will be tasked with distributing food preparation lists to junior staff and various kitchen departments, ensuring every meal is prepared and ready on time for delivery. You will oversee sanitation and cleanliness, enforcing cleaning schedules and standards to maintain a safe and hygienic working environment. The Executive Sous Chef will step in to cover the Chef de Cuisine’s responsibilities in their absence, requiring flexibility and strong leadership skills. You must maintain clear communication with sales teams, catering captains, and delivery drivers to accommodate any event changes promptly and efficiently. Responsiveness to emails and updating preparation sheets will be a key part of your duties to keep all kitchen sections informed about adjustments or special requirements.
Regular tasting and quality control of food are critical responsibilities. You will ensure dishes are perfectly seasoned and presented to uphold the highest standards. Collaboration with the Culinary Director to adjust master recipes will also be essential. Beyond culinary execution, you will contribute to fostering professionalism and ethical conduct within the kitchen and in interactions with clients and staff members. Managing junior staff behavior and reporting discrepancies to Human Resources will be part of your role to maintain a productive work environment.
Given the nature of catering work, the schedule will vary and require flexibility, including availability on weekends. The position demands reliable transportation to our main kitchen facility located in Lakewood, Colorado. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated culinary professional with at least 5 years of relevant experience and a background in events or catering to advance their career in a fast-paced, rewarding environment.
