Job Description

We are a busy catering company based in the Denver Metro Area specializing in providing exceptional culinary experiences for a wide range of events. Our company prides itself on delivering high-quality food and outstanding service tailored to the unique needs of our clients. With a dedicated team of culinary professionals, we work diligently to create memorable dining experiences that meet and exceed expectations. We focus on crafting innovative menus while maintaining a strong commitment to food safety, quality, and consistency. Our operations cover a variety of events, including corporate gatherings, weddings, private parties, and large-scale celebrations, which require a dynamic and skilled culinary team to manage the diverse demands of our busy schedule.

We are currently seeking a full-time Executive Sous Chef to join our team and share responsibility for all culinary activities in the kitchen alongside the Culinary Director and Chef de Cuisine. This is a salaried, overtime-exempt position offering an annual salary between $65,000 and $68,000. The Executive Sous Chef will play a crucial managerial role, helping to oversee the kitchen’s day-to-day operations, ensuring timely and high-quality food production, and maintaining exceptional kitchen standards. This position demands a highly organized and experienced professional with at least five years of relevant kitchen management experience, preferably with a background in events and catering.

The Executive Sous Chef is responsible for distributing food preparation tasks effectively to junior staff while managing workflow to meet event deadlines. They will supervise sanitation and cleanliness in the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The role also involves taking over responsibilities of the Chef de Cuisine when necessary, staying in close communication with sales teams, catering captains, and delivery drivers to accommodate any last-minute changes or needs. The successful candidate will maintain professionalism and ethical conduct within the kitchen and liaise with clients and internal teams to promote a positive working environment.

Additionally, this role requires excellent communication skills for quick responses to emails, updating preparation sheets, and coordinating all areas of the kitchen to reflect production changes accurately. Regular tasting of dishes prepared in the kitchen and adjusting seasoning and presentation to ensure the highest quality standards are critical duties. Modifying master recipes in collaboration with the Culinary Director to enhance menu offerings is also expected. The Executive Sous Chef will be proactive in identifying and documenting any behavioral issues among junior staff, reporting directly to Human Resources to maintain a respectful and efficient workplace.

The work schedule is Monday through Sunday with day or night shifts varying based on operational needs. Flexibility to work weekends is essential to meet event demands. Reliable transportation is required to commute to our main kitchen located in Lakewood, Colorado. This role offers medical, vision, pet, and dental insurance benefits, along with a 401K plan featuring employer matching contributions. Paid time off and sick leave are included, and employees also enjoy a free lunch during shifts. Unique to our company is ZayZoon, an earned wages-on-demand benefit that allows employees to access their earned wages when needed most, supporting financial flexibility.

Joining our team as an Executive Sous Chef means becoming part of a vibrant, fast-paced culinary environment where your leadership and skills will directly contribute to the success and reputation of our catering company. We value dedication, efficiency, creativity, and a passion for culinary excellence. If you thrive in a collaborative setting and are looking for an opportunity to advance your career in a supportive company committed to quality and employee well-being, we encourage you to apply.
