Job Description

The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, also known as Nagaajiwanaang (Where the water stops), is a sovereign Ojibwe nation and one of the six Bands of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. As a significant employer within Carlton County, the Fond du Lac Band is deeply committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and supportive workforce that comprises Band members, native peoples, and individuals from nearby communities. The Band operates a wide range of programs and enterprises, including gaming facilities, tribal government, health services, and education that champions language preservation, cultural heritage, and environmental stewardship. This creates an enriching work environment where growth and development are highly valued and encouraged. The Band's hiring practices comply with tribal employment rights as outlined under Fond du Lac Ordinance #12/94 (TERO).

This role is situated within the Black Bear Casino Resort's Marketing Department, located onsite at the Resort. The position reports directly to the Marketing Director and holds a nonexempt (hourly) status with a Class A Gaming License classification. The employment classification includes a 90-day probationary period for full-time employees and a 120-day period for part-time employees. The hourly rate of pay ranges from $16.96 to $19.08.

The role focuses primarily on recruiting high-level players through several direct sales activities, including direct mail campaigns, phone outreach, referrals, guest visitation, and participation in offsite events. The incumbent will be tasked with identifying potential guests via cold calling, networking, referrals, and online research, developing strong ongoing relationships with VIP and loyal guests, and personalizing service delivery to enhance their gaming experience. Duties also entail coordinating reservations for the Resort's restaurant, Event Center, and Hotel, greeting guests on the casino floor, and implementing the Host Program, which conveys the terms of the tiered membership program.

The candidate is expected to maintain professionalism and uphold the Fond du Lac Band's values by ensuring excellent customer service, confidentiality of financial and personnel records, and adherence to company policies, including attendance and training requirements. This position demands availability during weekends, nights, holidays, and special events, with occasional on-call responsibilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and flexibility to adjust to changing job duties are essential for success in this role. The Casino environment requires business professional attire and appropriate hygiene at all times. Joining the Fond du Lac Band means being part of an organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Ojibwe community and culture, offering opportunities to contribute meaningfully to its vibrant future.
