Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of executive chef experience
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • excellent communication abilities
  • bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • proficiency in 7Shifts and Slack
  • valid California Food Handler certification
  • flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to meet physical demands of a production kitchen including lifting up to 50 lbs
  • ability to work day and night shifts
  • authorized to work in person at San Diego, CA 92102

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of Executive Chef experience in high-volume fast-casual or QSR environments
  • proven ability to lead teams and enforce accountability
  • strong written and verbal communication skills
  • bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • proficiency with scheduling and communication platforms such as 7Shifts and Slack
  • valid California Food Handler certification
  • ability to multitask effectively under pressure
  • demonstrated experience with cost control and operational systems
  • leadership skills in a fast-paced kitchen setting
  • experience managing inventory and labor compliance

Job Duties

  • Serve as a trusted key holder responsible for opening and closing procedures, alarm systems, offices, and secured storage areas
  • lead by example in a high-speed, high-pressure environment maintaining composure and authority
  • collaborate with HR and Operations to develop, modify, and enforce kitchen schedules aligned with sales forecasts and labor targets
  • participate in second-round interviews and final hiring recommendations
  • design, implement, and lead onboarding and training programs
  • maintain a professional and respectful work environment with zero tolerance for disruptive conduct
  • set and uphold clear performance standards with real-time coaching and corrective action
  • ensure every menu item is produced according to approved recipes and portion controls
  • manage prep sequencing, cook times, and ticket flow to prevent delays
  • confirm all food is handled and served within approved safety parameters
  • enforce ticket organization and kitchen communication systems
  • maintain full compliance with health regulations and sanitation standards
  • conduct daily BOH sanitation and safety walkthroughs
  • ensure compliance with labor laws regarding breaks and scheduling
  • perform daily inventory counts and monthly audits
  • receive and inspect deliveries for quality and accuracy
  • approve invoices after verification
  • independently manage large catering orders
  • resolve operational disruptions decisively
  • enforce company policies consistently
  • maintain on-call staffing plans for uninterrupted operations
  • delegate tasks with defined expectations
  • monitor labor hours and prevent overtime exposure
  • ensure daily egg roll production and correct thawing procedures
  • prevent food carryover by discarding prior-day proteins
