The role of the Executive Chef at Opals is pivotal to the restaurant's success, overseeing the overall operations with a specialized focus on the Oyster and Seafood Bar concept. This leadership position demands hands-on involvement in menu design, upholding operational standards, managing food quality, and supervising the kitchen and service staff. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned culinary professional with a proven track record in full-service, high-volume restaurants, possessing strong culinary expertise and a passion for seafood. This role involves ensuring strict adherence to food safety and quality standards, handling allergy and dietary modifications with care, and fostering a productive and positive team culture. The Executive Chef is responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and managing the restaurant staff while also maintaining schedules and performance standards to guarantee a seamless service experience.

In addition to leadership duties, the Executive Chef plays an active role in guest engagement at the Oyster and Seafood Bar, bringing a personal touch to the dining experience while ensuring that recipe accuracy and portion control are rigorously enforced. The chef will also coordinate staff operations, provide ongoing training to new cooks, and support the team in delivering timely and high-quality food. Job Requirements

  • Food Manager Certification
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role in full service, moderate to high volume restaurants
  • Must have strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service
  • Must have excellent time management skills
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have knowledge of working oyster bar
  • Candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role in full service, moderate to high volume restaurants
  • Strong knowledge of culinary products and techniques
  • Food Manager Certification
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service
  • Excellent time management skills

  • Knowledge of working oyster bar

Job Duties

  • Manages the Oyster/Seafood Bar concept
  • Interacts with guests at the Oyster/Seafood Bar
  • Handles and stores food products correctly (FIFO)
  • Monitors recipe accuracy, enforcing the use of proper weights and measures
  • Handles all allergy and/or dietary restrictions and modifications
  • Ensures all food meets the highest quality standards and is served in a timely manner
  • Provides training to newly recruited cooks and tracks their progress
  • Assists in coordinating oyster bar staff and assisting as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned
