The role of Executive Chef for Shawnee Public Schools in Oklahoma offers a remarkable opportunity to lead and innovate in a school district serving approximately 3,200 students across seven schools. As Executive Chef, you will be responsible for shaping the culinary vision that drives fresh, flavorful, and nutritious meals that excite students daily. This position offers a stable schedule with no nights, weekends, or holidays, allowing you to enjoy life outside of work while still making a significant impact. Your leadership will be critical in managing a team of up to 30 associates, ensuring consistency in food quality, health and safety compliance, proper food presentation, and operational excellence across all school sites.

The Executive Chef will be deeply involved in menu development, staff training, inventory management, and maintaining sanitation standards. This hands-on role requires a passion for culinary arts, mentorship, and the ability to bring new food concepts to life on a large scale. You will collaborate closely with district leadership to enhance the overall dining experience and drive forward the company’s commitment to student wellness and satisfaction. Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree desired or equivalent experience in culinary arts
  • Two plus years of culinary/kitchen management experience with catering experience preferred
  • Proven success in complex foodservice operations with a solid base in institutional and batch cooking
  • Hands-on chef experience accompanied by solid knowledge of food trends emphasizing quality production sanitation cost control and presentation
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office suite and email systems
  • Willingness to actively engage in client satisfaction programs and activities
  • ServSafe certification is highly desirable highlighting a commitment to food safety

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Develops regular and specialty menus in line with K12 standards ensuring adherence to portioning and presentation guidelines
  • Trains kitchen staff in food preparation equipment operation and safety protocols promoting a culture of excellence
  • Establishes and maintains thorough cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment and work areas
  • Handles inventory of food and supplies optimizing utilization while ensuring vital products are readily available
  • Ensures compliance with health and sanitation regulations through meticulous adherence to department procedures and participation in audits
  • Actively participates in departmental meetings staff development initiatives and professional programs to stay abreast of industry trends
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of a dining service operation
