Job Description
Black Desert Resort is an ultra-premium destination resort located in Southern Utah, renowned for its refined dining experiences, elevated service standards, and destination-driven culinary adventures. This luxury resort offers a unique blend of natural beauty, sophisticated amenities, and world-class hospitality, making it a sought-after vacation spot for guests seeking an exceptional getaway. The resort’s signature restaurant portfolio includes Basalt, Latitude, 20th Hole, and Flo, each offering a distinct culinary experience that aligns with the resort's commitment to excellence and innovation. Black Desert Resort prides itself on creating memorable guest experiences through exceptional food quality, artistic presentation, and impeccable service.
The Executive Chef of Signature Restaurants at Black Desert Resort plays a pivotal role in shaping the culinary direction and operational excellence of the resort’s core dining venues. This position entails overseeing the culinary leadership for the resort’s flagship restaurants—Latitude, 20th Hole, Flo, and Basalt. The Executive Chef is responsible for establishing consistent standards for food quality, presentation, and portion control, ensuring every dish served exceeds guest expectations. Reporting directly to the Director of Food & Beverage, the Executive Chef supervises Executive Chefs and Chefs de Cuisine, driving accountability, talent development, and operational performance across all signature outlets.
Beyond hands-on culinary leadership, this role demands strategic vision and collaboration with food and beverage leadership to enhance the resort’s culinary identity continuously. The Executive Chef leads menu development, seasonal refreshes, and concept evolution to maintain the restaurants’ competitive edge and allure. Financial stewardship is a crucial aspect of this role, including managing food costs, labor efficiency, inventory control, and waste reduction to optimize profitability.
The position also requires ensuring compliance with health, safety, and resort policies, conducting regular kitchen audits, tastings, and operational reviews. Supporting recruitment, onboarding, training, and succession planning for culinary leadership ensures the continuous growth and excellence of the team. The Executive Chef works closely with Front of House leadership to synchronize culinary delivery with service flow and guest experience.
As a visible culinary leader, the Executive Chef is expected to uphold Black Desert Resort's ultra-premium culinary and hospitality philosophy during peak service periods, special events, and restaurant openings. This is a full-time, year-round onsite role with a competitive salary range of $145,000 to $160,000 annually plus manager incentive bonuses. The resort offers comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, 401(k) with company match, flexible time off, employee dining, exclusive resort discounts, and more.
Joining Black Desert Resort means becoming part of a team that values creative culinary influence, strategic leadership, and operational excellence within a world-class luxury destination. The Executive Chef of Signature Restaurants will have the unique opportunity to lead some of the region’s most influential dining venues and help shape a culinary legacy that defines the resort’s stature and guest satisfaction.
