The role of Executive Chef at Sunrise Senior Living, specifically at the Maplewood Park Place community, is a key leadership position focused on culinary excellence. The Executive Chef is the visionary leader responsible for the entire culinary program, elevating food production and presentation to the highest standards in fine dining and luxury hospitality. This role involves directing a team of culinary professionals to deliver an innovative, elevated dining experience that not only delights residents but also reflects the brand’s values of service, quality, and community engagement.

As the Executive Chef, you will oversee all kitchen operations—including menu development, inventory management, vendor relations, staff training, and compliance with rigorous food safety and sanitation protocols. You will be responsible for creating seasonal and innovative menus designed to enhance guest satisfaction and support revenue growth through events like weekend brunches, family celebrations, and catering. The role also involves fostering a positive, collaborative kitchen culture through team recruitment, training, and mentorship. Job Requirements

  • Degree or certification in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience as an Executive Chef in fine dining or luxury hospitality
  • Current food safety and sanitation certification or ability to obtain
  • Excellent multitasking and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Effective communication abilities
  • Proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office and culinary software
  • Availability for evening and weekend work
  • Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions
  • Commitment to food safety and sanitation compliance

Job Qualifications

  • Degree or certification in Culinary Arts from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as an Executive Chef in fine dining or luxury hospitality setting
  • Current Food Safety and Sanitation Certification or ability to pass course and exam at hire
  • Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
  • Strong delegation and team development abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in time management problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
  • Technologically adept with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and culinary management software

Job Duties

  • Lead all culinary operations ensuring flawless execution of food preparation presentation and service
  • Develop and implement seasonal innovative menus reflecting restaurant’s concept and guest experience
  • Drive revenue earning opportunities including weekend brunches family events holiday gatherings and catering
  • Manage inventory purchasing and vendor relationships to ensure premium ingredient sourcing cost control and operational efficiency
  • Oversee kitchen staffing training and scheduling to maintain a high performing disciplined and collaborative culinary team
  • Enforce strict compliance with food safety sanitation and HACCP protocols to maintain a pristine kitchen environment
  • Engage with guests during meal service to ensure satisfaction gather feedback and tailor the dining experience
  • Manage departmental financial performance including labor procurement and operational expenses
  • Lead recruitment onboarding training coaching and performance evaluations of culinary team
  • Ensure compliance with health safety and labor regulations through ongoing supervision and training
  • Champion positive kitchen culture and team engagement
  • Participate in culinary feedback forums and guest dining committees to continuously refine offerings
  • Attend meetings as directed including Executive Director meetings and Town Hall
  • Review daily timekeeping and payroll reports for accuracy
