The company is a part of Compass Group USA, a global leader in foodservice management, known for its commitment to quality and excellence. Chartwells K12 prides itself on creating custom dining programs that cater to the diverse tastes and nutritional needs of students, ensuring that every meal served is both nutritious and enjoyable. The company’s culinary team, nutritionists, and wellness experts work collaboratively to design menus that not only comply with federal and state guidelines but also delight young palates.
The role of Executive Chef at Chartwells K12 is a dynamic and exciting opportunity for a passionate culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced educational foodservice environment. As Executive Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring safe and sanitary conditions, and directing the preparation of meals aligned with Chartwells’ corporate programs and dietary guidelines. This position is ideal for an entrepreneurial chef who enjoys leading teams, training staff, and embracing the challenges of a high-volume school foodservice operation.
The Executive Chef will play a central role in mentoring the kitchen team, enforcing food safety standards, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The position requires a hands-on approach to culinary management, with responsibilities ranging from taste-testing meals and monitoring portion control to managing inventory and waste. Additionally, the Executive Chef will utilize various computer software applications to streamline operations, including Microsoft Office tools and industry-specific systems. Chartwells K12 offers competitive pay and comprehensive employee benefits, making it an attractive employer for culinary professionals who want to make a difference in the lives of students through nutritious and appealing food offerings. If you are a motivated chef with a minimum of three to five years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience, and you have a passion for delivering quality in a complex, high-volume institutional setting, this role offers an excellent platform for your professional growth and impact.
