The role of Executive Chef III at Sunrise Senior Living is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations and managing the dining experience to ensure residents enjoy exceptional quality meals prepared with care and attention to their preferences. This role demands a strong leader who can manage staffing, budgets, and vendor relationships effectively while upholding the highest culinary and safety standards. The Executive Chef III is also tasked with fostering a culture of hospitality and engagement, working closely with residents, families, and community leadership to exceed expectations. Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, inventory management, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and collaborating with the community sales team for marketing events. This full-time position requires a culinary professional with at least five years of experience in the hospitality industry, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work as a manager on duty as needed. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum five years culinary experience in the hospitality industry
  • Food handlers permit as required by law
  • Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Compliance with company motor vehicle policies
  • Ability to work as manager on duty
  • Effective communication and leadership skills

Job Qualifications

  • Five or more years culinary experience in the hospitality industry
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Food handlers permit as required by state or provincial law and company standards
  • Basic computer skills – Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Valid driver’s license and compliance with company motor vehicle policy
  • Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to resolve customer and employee issues effectively

Job Duties

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, developing, and performance managing assigned staff
  • Schedule hours, breaks, and meal periods
  • Maintain monthly and annual budgets for the Culinary Services department and document expenditures
  • Manage inventory of kitchen supplies, small wares, and table ware
  • Ensure purchasing standards and maintain strong vendor relationships
  • Oversee food preparation, storage, and service in compliance with company and legal standards
  • Meet regularly with residents and family members to ensure satisfaction
  • Ensure staff provide high levels of customer service
  • Coordinate front of house and back of house staff to deliver exceptional food experiences
  • Work with community leadership to maintain customer satisfaction and health survey levels at or above standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting
  • Delegate tasks to maintain cleanliness and quality
  • Conduct department meetings, in-services, and pre-meal briefings
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment
  • Assist with planning and execution of special events and banquets
  • Collaborate with Community Sales team for marketing efforts
  • Ensure compliance with community standards
  • Act as manager on duty as required
  • Maintain training compliance and meet regulatory standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
