Hilton Austin, located in the vibrant heart of downtown Austin, Texas, adjacent to the Convention Center, is an iconic 31-story hotel featuring 801 elegantly appointed rooms, three distinctive food and beverage outlets, and an expansive 60,000 square feet of versatile meeting and event space. Hilton Austin is currently seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Chef to join their talented Culinary Team and elevate their culinary offerings to new heights. This role presents a unique leadership opportunity within an award-winning hotel known for its dedication to guest satisfaction, operational excellence, and community engagement. The Executive Chef will take responsibility for overseeing all culinary operations and ensuring that guest experiences exceed expectations through exceptional food quality, innovative menus, and meticulous attention to safety and sanitation standards.
The Executive Chef will lead a diverse and skilled team with a focus on fostering professional development and collaboration. With at least 3-5 years of experience in similar roles within upscale hotels, specialty restaurants, or large-scale banquets, the ideal candidate brings a rich culinary background, strong leadership qualities, and a passion for excellence. Experience working with union teams is considered a plus. The role involves direct oversight of all food production, quality control, cost management, and staff performance to drive both guest satisfaction and financial success.
Key responsibilities include creating and implementing innovative menus aligned with current food trends and local tastes, working closely with the Director of Food and Beverage to develop culinary strategies that resonate with Hilton's brand standards. The Executive Chef will also engage directly with guests and clients to monitor satisfaction and make continual improvements. Compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations is paramount, including health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness standards.
Beyond culinary expertise, this role requires general management skills such as budget forecasting, report generation, systems management, team recruitment, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and active participation in departmental meetings. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in culinary arts or related field
- At least 3-5 years experience as an Executive Chef
- Experience managing high-volume culinary operations
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety regulations
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Union experience preferred
