The Executive Chef position at the Getty is a prestigious role that plays a critical part in managing culinary operations across one of the world’s foremost art museum campuses. This position offers a salary range of $120,000 to $140,000 per year and is ideal for a dynamic leader passionate about blending hospitality, culture, and innovation. The Executive Chef oversees multiple culinary outlets including cafes, retail dining, catering, special events, bakery, pastry production, and back-of-house kitchen operations across two Getty locations. This multifaceted leadership role requires strategic oversight of menu development, culinary quality, operational efficiency, and profitability. The Executive Chef will also serve as a mentor and leader to culinary teams, fostering a collaborative and creative environment that upholds the Getty brand’s high standards.

In this role, the Executive Chef is responsible for creating seasonal and innovative menus that align with guest expectations and museum programming while maintaining operational excellence and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. They will manage food, labor, and operational costs effectively while leading inventory and vendor relationships. Job Requirements

  • Culinary degree or formal culinary training preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of executive culinary leadership experience
  • Experience in multi-outlet hospitality environments
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume catering and special events
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to manage budgets and operational costs
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or formal culinary training preferred
  • 5+ years of executive-level culinary leadership experience in multi-outlet hospitality, cultural institutions, hotels, restaurants, or premier foodservice environments
  • Strong background in high-volume dining, catering, and special events
  • Experience overseeing multiple concepts or locations simultaneously
  • Knowledge of bakery and pastry operations preferred
  • Proven success managing food and labor costs, purchasing, and inventory controls

Job Duties

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all culinary operations across multiple outlets, kitchens, catering, and bakery/pastry programs
  • Develop seasonal, innovative menus that align with guest expectations, museum programming, and culinary trends
  • Lead, mentor, and develop culinary teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and operational excellence
  • Oversee high-volume production, premium catering, and special event execution across both Getty campuses
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest culinary, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Manage food, labor, and operational costs while maintaining quality and profitability goals
  • Direct purchasing, inventory management, and vendor relationships to support efficient operations
  • Partner with marketing and operational leadership to introduce new culinary concepts, promotions, and guest experiences
  • Maintain compliance with all health department regulations, HACCP standards, and company policies
  • Drive consistency, organization, and execution across multiple venues and service styles
