Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or 1-2 years of related experience and/or training
  • Five or more years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
  • Ability to manage and evaluate kitchen staff
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Experience in labor scheduling and purchase compliance management
  • Proficiency in Webtrition for food costing and other functions

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or 1-2 years of related experience and/or training
  • Culinary degree strongly encouraged
  • 5+ years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending on formal degree or training
  • Experience in multi-unit, high volume, and complex foodservice operations
  • Institutional and batch cooking experience
  • Hands-on chef experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost control, and presentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, email, and the internet
  • ServSafe certification highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Manage overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the kitchen unit
  • Directly supervise chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning tasks, appraising performance, and addressing complaints in line with company policies and laws
  • Oversee food preparation, portioning, and garnishing to meet standards
  • Plan menus and manage food surpluses and seasonal ingredients
  • Control food costs through effective portioning and purchasing
  • Ensure compliance with ServSafe, sanitation, and safety regulations
