The role of Executive Chef in Chicago, IL offers an excellent opportunity for an energetic and entrepreneurial culinary professional to lead kitchen operations. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $100,000 to $110,000 accompanied by bonus potential. The Executive Chef is responsible for overseeing all kitchen activities while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment compliant with food safety regulations. Key to this position is directing the preparation of meals to meet corporate programs and guidelines, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and service. This role requires robust leadership skills to train and guide kitchen staff in safe food handling, equipment use, and proper sanitation practices.

The Executive Chef will plan regular and modified menus while adhering to standardized recipes, portioning, and presentation standards. They will manage inventory to stay within budget guidelines and ensure necessary ingredients and supplies are available as needed. This position demands close collaboration to maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for kitchen equipment and work areas. Additionally, the Executive Chef will enforce compliance with all federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and participate in client satisfaction initiatives. Ideal candidates will have experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations, including catering, institutional batch cooking, and hands-on chef experience. Job Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum 5 years of relevant culinary or kitchen management experience
  • certification in food safety preferred
  • proven leadership and team management skills
  • ability to maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • effective communication skills
  • computer literacy including Microsoft Office
  • willingness to work varied shifts and participate in client programs
  • eligibility to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • A.S. or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience
  • extensive catering experience a plus
  • experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations
  • knowledge of institutional and batch cooking
  • hands-on chef experience
  • comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, email and internet
  • willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
  • ServSafe certified highly desirable

Job Duties

  • participates in departmental meetings, staff development, and professional programs
