The role of Executive Chef 3 at Waco ISD involves overseeing the culinary operations and ensuring adherence to Sodexo and USDA standards. This chef will play a critical role in menu compliance, food quality assurance, and culinary training across multiple school sites. Additionally, the Executive Chef will be responsible for managing catering functions within the district and Sodexo’s adjacent K-12 accounts, developing appealing culinary promotions designed to increase student meal purchases, and driving innovation aligned with current food trends. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and be proficient in motivating, coaching, and mentoring frontline staff to maintain the highest culinary standards.

Food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety are fundamental aspects of this role. The Executive Chef 3 will utilize automated systems such as PrimeroEdge for food management, inventory control, and production management, ensuring operational efficiency and cost control. A deep understanding of purchasing, food cost analysis, and menu development will be essential, reflecting the role's comprehensive responsibility for the district's culinary success.

Job Requirements

  • minimum education requirement - bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum management experience - 3 years
  • minimum functional experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts
  • ability to motivate, coach and develop staff
  • strong communication skills
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • familiarity with automated food inventory and management systems

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum 3 years management experience
  • minimum 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts
  • excellent leadership and communication skills

  • previous experience in a K-12 environment preferred

Job Duties

  • be responsible for purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis and food production
  • oversee the PrimeroEdge food management system for multiple units
  • menu development
  • ensure Sodexo and USDA culinary standards including recipe compliance are food quality are implemented and maintained
  • oversee catering functions within Waco ISD and Sodexo’s neighboring K-12 accounts
  • motivate, coach, mentor and develop frontline staff
  • provide stellar customer/client service
  • ensure food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standard compliance
  • have working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems
